The Constance Percy Memorial Fund was established on request of her family when she passed away in 2004. Memorial contributions were donated to the fund to allow those involved in cancer registration to attend IACR meetings. The name originally proposed by Mrs. Percy's familly "Travelling Fellowship" was renamed in her memory.
The fund was used for the first time for travel of several colleagues from African countries to attend the annual meeting in Kampala, Uganda in 2005.
Donations to the fund are warmly welcome and will be administered by the International Association of Cancer Registries / Association Internationale des Registres du Cancer based at the c/o International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC-WHO) in Lyon, France.
If you require more information or wish to apply, please consult Connie Percy Memorial Fund - Guidelines.
The Calum Muir Memorial Fellowship has been created by the International Association of Cancer Registries in memory of Dr Calum S. Muir, a founder member of the Association and a pioneer in cancer registration worldwide. It is aimed to enhance knowledge and skills of people working in cancer registries, with an emphasis on quality control, and to facilitate the exchange and use of data in cancer control programmes and research and to promote collaborative studies between registries.
The fellowship is intended to help personnel working in cancer registries to spend some time in host institutions/registries which can offer learning opportunities which are generally not available in the home institute, but would find immediate application on the return of the candidate to his/her home institute. A candidate may be awarded a fellowship to attend relevant workshops/training courses concerning cancer registration, epidemiology and the use of registry data in cancer control programmes.
